He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Ettestad and Anna Ettestad (Sorquist); his wife Donna; his siblings, Archie, Knute, Myron, Milton, Gordy, Howard, Velma, Lila and Eunice; and his stepdaughter Tracy Halvorson.
He is survived by: his former wife Katherine Manske; his sister Rosaline; his sons, Gene (Faith), Todd (Shannon) and David (Suzanne); the mother of his children Katherine Strom; his grandchildren, Jon (Valentina), Zachary, Anna, Sahvanna, Tyler, Aaron (Christina), Brent and Brianna; his close friend Pat Torgersen; and his stepchildren, Cynthia Emerson (Peter), Michael Halvorson, Jayne Rosendahl (Lowell) and Kristin Hill (John). He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
