He was predeceased by: his parents, Aubrey Dent and Martha Dent (Peabody); his wife Charlotta Houser; his brother Earl Dent; and his great grandchildren, Jessie and Jon.

He is survived by: his children, Connie Coie and Michael Dent (Nancy); his grandchildren, Travis, Tanja, Teri, Tai, Tracy and Adam; and his sister Marian Bennett.
