He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Hanson and Ethel Hanson (Johnson); his wife Lela Kate "Lee"; and his sister Rosalyne Mattson. He is survived by: his children, Pennie Burton (Stan), Clifford Allen Hanson, Marilyn Deg (Chris) and Terry Gilbertson; his grandchildren, Shanna, Sherri, Curtis, Heather, Stephanie, Jackie, Katie, James and Laura Kate; his brother Adrian Hanson (Cheryl); and his cousin Wayne Johnson (Carolyn). He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren.
