He was predeceased by: his parents, Merrill "Red" and Rose Mary Mendenhall; his wife Barbara Robertson; his siblings, Ronnie and Marilyn; his granddaughter Madison Mendenhall; and his brother-in-law Johny Scott of Montana.
He is survived by: his former wife Ruthann Zimmerman; his children, Tammy Borntrager (Scott) of Trimont, Sam Mendenhall (Cindy Treider), James Mendenhall of Truman, Kevin Mendenhall (Heidi) of Mitchell, Crystal Mendenhall (Sarah Mendenhall) of Wisconsin and Jason Schurz of Plankinton; his siblings, Mike Mendenhall (Linda) of Mitchell and Cathy Clemensen (John) of Iowa; and his sister-in-law Joanne Mendenhall of South Dakota. He is also survived by brother-in-law and other relatives.
