He was predeceased by: his parents, Hagbert Halvorson and Anna Halvorson (Stone); his son James; his siblings, Chester Halvorson, Elmer Halvorson (Allis), Kenneth Halvorson and Clarice Floberg (Russell); his nephew Duane Floberg; and his parents-in-law, Robert Erlenmeyer and Doris Swenson.

He is survived by: his wife Pam Halvorson; his children, Jessica Cruz (George) of Viking, MN and Joseph Halvorson (Trudy Erickson); his grandchildren, James Johnson, George Cruz Jr., Nora Veselka, Shay Halvorson and Ruby Halvorson; and his great grandchild Alani Johnson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
