He was predeceased by: his spouse Caroline Kelly (Johnson); his child Cornelius "Neil" Kelly; and his siblings, Helen Corr, Priscilla Hayes, John Kelly and Charles Kelly.

He is survived by: his parents, Cornelius J. Kelly and Annie Kelly (Dugan); his grandchildren, Patrick Kelly (Meredith), Sarah Kelly and Elizabeth Thompson (David); his great grandchild Benjamin Kelly; and his daughter-in-law Susan Kelly. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
