He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Gertken and Rosalia Gertken (Fischer); his mother-in-law Dorothy Borgerding; his former wife Dorothy; his son Kevin; his stepdaughter Cheri; his siblings, Elmer, Donald Gertken and Bernice Klaphake; and his brother-in-law Leander Blonigan.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy; his children, Karla Massmann (Steven), Keith "Mooey" Gertken, Kelly Backes (Jerry), Kristi Gerads (Dean), Kandi Hernandez (Marcelo), Kari Gertken, Kayla Hernandez (Temo) and Konnie Gertken; his stepchildren, Jack and Michelle; his siblings, Ambrose Gertken (Kathy), Donna Mae Poepping (Wilbert), Annette Blonigan, Rosemary Ehlinger (John), Lloyd Gertken (Jenny) and Eugene Gertken (Sharon); and his siblings-in-law, Richard Klaphake and Vera Lou Gertken. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, step-grandchildren.
