He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer G. Rood and Clara M. Rood (Ellingson); his brothers, Elmo and Glenn; his siblings-in-law, Robert King, Bruce Thonvold, Howard Jacobson and Mary Rood; his nephew Rick Thonvold; and his friend Floyd Swanberg.
He is survived by: his siblings, Jenny Jacobson, Donna King (Don Stuhr), Hazel Thonvold, Linda Peters (Harlan) and Leslie Rood (Katherine); and his sister-in-law Linda Rood. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
