He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel Hamness and Hilda Hamness (Selstad); his wife Nora Wahl of Greenbush; his brothers, Andrew Hamness and Danferd Hamness; his grandmother Netterlund; his siblings-in-law, Swen Netterlund, Sally Hamness and Velma Hamness; his son-in-law John Prothero; and his friend Ralph Gaarde.
He is survived by: his children, Naomi Zak (Allan), Marvel Strandberg (Guy) of Strathcona, Kay Prothero of Roseau, Chris Hamness (Jeanie) of Roseau and Dale Hamness (Laurie) of Strathcona; his grandchildren, Robin, Scott, Sarah, Karissa, Burt, Aaron, Melissa, Crystal, Brandon, Brianna, Emily, Chelsey and Logan; and his sisters-in-law, Sonja Hanson of Strathcona and Phyllis Wahl of Greenbush. He is also survived by 17 great-grandchildren, several nieces & nephews.
