He was predeceased by: his parents, Marion Kennedy and A. D. Kennedy; his wife Suzy (Hager); his siblings, Kenny and Gerry Heck (Bill); and his granddaughter Colleen Cassidy.

He is survived by: his brother Larry; his children, Kate Cassidy (Tom), Sean (Sue Sheridan), Brigid Michalowicz (Bryan), Sheila Kennedy and Mike (Sarah); his grandchildren, Sheila McNelis (Joey), Jack Cassidy (Danielle), Danny, Joe Cassidy, Shilpa Kennedy, Peter, Clare, David Michalowicz, Riley, Nolan Brown, Charlie, Sam Kennedy and Chase Blair; and his siblings-in-law, Judy, Tom Reichert, Jim and Marie Hager. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and life long friends.
