He was predeceased by: his parents, Caroline Boyer (Schreiner) and John Boyer; his daughter Tonya Boyer; and his siblings, Blanch Dockenorf, Evelyn McCann and Ralph Boyer.
He is survived by: his wife Cindy A. VanRoekel; his children, Carrie Trautz of St. Cloud, Kelly Boyer of Kentucky, Dan Boyer (Leda Nolan) of Verndale and Justin Boyer (Jenny) of Pillager; and his siblings, Mildred McCann, Margie Anderson (Jerry), Clarice Jones, Shirley Garvey, Grace Struthers (Terry), Darlene Boyer and Dick Boyer (Rosella). He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.
