He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Hayenga and Mildred Hayenga (Johnson); his brother Roger; his niece Darshayne Hayenga; his brother-in-law Don Aaberg; and his great-nephew Nick Aaberg.
He is survived by: his wife Jean Kalina; his children, Jen Champion (John), Becca Schroeder (Andrew) and Krista Hayenga; his grandchildren, Noah, Kaleb, Jacob Champion, Cynthia and Simone Kooner; and his siblings, Darlene Aaberg, Jerry Hayenga (Betsy), Sandy Pohlman (Bob) and Marcy Revere. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and many other extended family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Batcher Block Opera House or the Staples Historical Society.
