He was predeceased by: his parents, John Burghardt (John) and Esther Burghardt (Scholz); his wife Marion Nachreiner; and his siblings, Joan Regner (Ed), Mary Wildt (Robert), Rosella Burghardt and Francis Burghardt.

He is survived by: his sons, Paul of Springfield, MN, Thomas of Ankeny, IA, Curtis (Sharon) of Cape Elizabeth, ME and James of Wheaton, IL; his grandchildren, Samantha Burghardt, Mitchell and Brenna Burghardt; his great grandchildren, Layla, Aubrey, Roman and Willow; and his siblings, Eugene (Joyce) of Alexandria and Carolyn Wellman (Robert).
