She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Stein and Edna Stein (Bergeson); and her daughters-in-law, Tessa and Shelly. She is survived by: her former husband Harry McConnell; her sons, Gust McConnell and Scott McConnell; and her grandchildren, Melissa, Ashely, Kaden, Keisha and Shinead. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Rita donated her body to Mayo Clinic.
