He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Haugstad and Emma Haugstad (Vick); his sisters, Edith (James Nerstad), Hazel (Arnold Moen) and Marjorie (Arthur Moen); his brothers-in-law, Arvid Wiste and Leo Van Minsel; his nephews, Sanford, David Wiste, John, Ronald Nerstad and Donnie Van Minsel; and his great-nephews, Casey Knutson, Kaleb Hitchens and Jacob Onstad.

He is survived by: his sisters, Carmona Wiste and Elaine Van Minsel. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
