He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Schmidt and Emma Schmidt (Bruesehoff); his daughter Jennifer Erickson; his brother Dennis Schmidt; and his son-in-law Michael Lawson.
He is survived by: his wife Darlene Jean Erickson of South Haven; his children, Dawn Lawson of Apple Valley, Mike Schmidt of Rosemount, Kim Olson of Anoka and Toni Medlock (Troy) of Minneapolis; and his sisters, Diane Wannow (Bob) of Backus and Darla Schelitzche (Greg) of Waconia. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
