She was predeceased by: her parents, Amelia and Charles (Harold); her siblings, Gregory Soukup, Adele Goblirsch, Edwin Goblirsch and Cordella Soukup; her siblings-in-law, Ben and Monica Portner; her sister Madeline Portner; and her nephew Thomas Goblirsch.
She is survived by: her spouse Harold E Portner; her sons, Thomas (Mary) and Mark (Lisa); her stepchildren, Carol Jean, Mavis Vermaak (Thomas) and Harold Jr. (Leslie); her grandchildren, Boston, Sabrina, Isabella, Crystal, Sophia, Rachel, Jared, Dustin, Blake, Aria, Andy, Brett, Kristina, Natasha, Matthew, Abby, Joey, Mike and Tony; and her nieces and nephews, Nancy Wolf (John), Joyce Kuehn (Bill), Cindy Scheid (Keith) and Dean Goblirsch (Stacy).
In lieu of flowers the family asked for memorials in Joan's name to St. Mary's Catholic School or Divine Providence Community Home of Sleepy Eye.
