He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Cortese and Mary Cortese (Donato); his wife Elizabeth; his brothers, Dominic and Angelo Cortese; his children, Ron (Janet), Michael (Sandy), Maria Cortese and Teresa Patterson (Dale); his grandchildren, Christopher, Dr. Jamie, Sara Cortese, Jessica Klemmer, Nick Patterson, Patrick, Chris Hulett and Lisa Martin; and his close friend Sharon Kelley. He was also cherished by 15 great-grandchildren.
