It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Donald Komppa (Sebeka, Minnesota), who passed away on January 7, 2025, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Nestor Komppa and Senia Komppa; his siblings, Gene, Andrew, Arve, Clifford, Larry, Florence, Annie Komppa, Hazel Schmitz and Ruth Carpenter; his siblings-in-law, Shirley Komppa, Ruth Komppa, Calvin Carpenter and Jack Schmitz; his nephews, Michael Levander, Chuck Komppa, Jake Anderson, Craig Anderson, Gary Komppa and Travis Friesner; his niece Senia Munoz (Komppa); and his son-in-law David L. Brown.
He is survived by: his wife Jane Rose Zartwell; his children, Daniel Komppa (Brenda) of Avon, MN, Dana Komppa (Debbie Newhouse), Denise Schwartz (Lyle) of Menahga and Dawn Komppa (Rick Kruger); his grandchildren, Emma Komppa, Eldon Komppa, Levi Schwartz (Hannah) of Menahga and Leah Pietila (David) of Menahga; his great grandchildren, Aili and Anders Pietila; his siblings, Fred Komppa (Evelyn) of Hibbing, MN, Gary Komppa of Colorado City, Texas and Linda Levander (Bruce) of Gilbert, Minnesota; and his siblings-in-law, Rebecca Komppa of Sebeka, Ralph Zartwell of Menahga and Donald Zartwell of Eugene, Oregon. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
Visitation was held on Sunday, January 19th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM and on Monday, January 20th 2025 at 10:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Monday, January 20th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the Our Saviour's Lutheran Church (401 2nd St SE, Sebeka, MN 56477).
