He is survived by: his wife Caren Flach; his children, William Winkels, Janelle Bannerman (Michael), Wayne Winkels (Mary) and James Winkels; and his siblings, Stan (Jan), Bernie, Ted (Deb), Tom Winkels (Mavis), Shelly Piatz (George) and Carrie Maresh (Bob). He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one new great-grandson.
