He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Schmitz and Evelyn Schmitz (Hommerding); and his brother David. He is survived by: his wife Dianne Peltz of Sauk Rapids; his children, Lisa Brennan of Albertville and Randy (Nancy) of St. Joseph; his grandchildren, Lily, Sylvie, Wylie and Ellie; his siblings, Ralph (Kathy) of Sauk Rapids, Mary Erkens (Mel) of Blaine and Dale (Jean) of Andover; and his sister-in-law Judy of Brooklyn Park.

Memorials are preferred to The Poor Clare Monastery.
