With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Rita M. Scapanski (Sauk Rapids, Minnesota), who passed away on March 17, 2025 at the age of 88. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lawrence Freihammer and Loretta Freihammer (Riedeman); her husband Art; her son John; her grandson Jacob Virnig; her great grandchild Mylee Scapanski; her brothers, Tom, Fred and Michael; and her siblings-in-law, Liz Freihammer, Bev Freihammer and Floyd Traut.
She is survived by: her children, Dave (Kathy) of Sauk Rapids, Gary (Shirley) of Sauk Rapids, Carolyn Pietrzak (Cary) of Rice, Tom of Foley, Monica Lentner (Dave) of Rice, Steve (Karla) of Sauk Rapids, Barb Nelson (Dwain) of Rice, Jane Janson (Steve) of Foley, Rose Virnig (Kevin) of Pierz and Tim (Tisha Ellingson) of Sauk Rapids; her daughter-in-law Cheryl of Sauk Rapids; her siblings, Pete Freihammer of Sauk Rapids, Jim Freihammer (Nancy) of Sauk Rapids, Marilyn Orren (Joe) of Sauk Rapids, Theresa Hollenkamp (Gene) of Sauk Rapids, Margaret Traut of Sartell, John Freihammer (Carol) of Sartell, Lollie Traut (Tom) of Sartell, Rosann Wentland of Foley, Frank Freihammer (Carol) of St. Cloud, Larry Freihammer (Bev) of St. Cloud, Steve Freihammer (Linda) of St. Cloud and Kathy Thell (Roger) of Albany; and her sister-in-law Veronica Freihammer (Tom) of Rice. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, March 21st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Annunciation Catholic Church (9965 Mayhew Lake Rd NE, Sauk Rapids, MN 56379). A funeral service was held on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Traditional Catholic Church (931 5th Ave N, Sartell, MN 56377). A burial was held on Saturday, March 22nd 2025 at 12:45 PM at the Annunciation Cemetery.
