He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Diederich and Catherine Diederich (Thelen); his wife Carol Ann Smoley; his siblings, Kenneth, Robert, Alvin and Betty Koopmeiners; his son-in-law Neil Fjelstad; and his great grandchild Mason James.
He is survived by: his children, Michele Fjelstad of Darwin, Michael of Darwin, Edward of Rice, Alisa Nelson of Grove City and Loren (Miranda) of Mounds View; and his siblings, Marlene Maurer of Swanville, Carol Grant (Fred) of Beaver Dam, WI, Leo (Marlys) of St. Cloud, Rita Legatt (Harvey) of St. Cloud, Rich (Mitzi) of Coon Rapids, Tom (Donna) of St. Cloud, Don of Sauk Rapids and Butch of Sauk Rapids. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
