He is survived by: his wife Suzanne Ahrens; his children, Dawn Ahrens, Shari Newman, Joseph Ahrens (Sarah) and Cynthia Steichen (John); and his siblings, Darlene Ahrens of Missouri, Susan Olson (George) of Long Prairie, Elizabeth Ahrens of Pierz, Ed Ahrens (Monica) of Missouri, Marie Ahrens of Appleton and Jack of Arkansas. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
