He was predeceased by: his niece Tina Kulzer; and his siblings, Bertha Theisen, Hildegard Primus, Valeria Walters, Helen Jenc, Jeanette Derichs, Gregor, Norbert "Norby" and Cyril Wessel.
He is survived by: his brother Delbert Wessel of New Munich; his nieces, Pam Koppelman (Tom) of Melrose, Sharon Messer (Mike Hatlestad) of Sauk Centre and Mona Marthaler (Bill) of New Munich; and his nephew Tom Wessel of Sauk Centre. He is also survived by many other nieces and nephews.
