He was predeceased by: his parents, William Lawinger and Mary Lawinger (Kieffer); and his siblings, Helen Flanagan, Eleanor Joestgen, Alice Hartung, Bill Lawinger, Agnes Knudson and Bob Lawinger.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Lawinger of Sauk Centre; his children, Larry Lawinger (JoAnn) of Maple Grove, Tim Lawinger (Patty) of Sauk Centre, Jim Lawinger (Ainslie) of Ambia, Debi Reynolds (Chuck) of Sauk Centre, Andy Lawinger (Karla) of Oakdale, Geri Swanson (Tom) of St. Cloud, Alan Lawinger (Cheryl) of Sauk Centre, Chris Lawinger (Lisa) of Sauk Centre and Jean Marthaler (Todd) of Sauk Centre; his sister Joan Grimm of Mineral Point, Wisconsin; his sister-in-law Helen Regan of Mineral Point; and his friend Chuck (Nancy Anderson). He is also survived by 26 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Holy Family School.
