He is survived by: his former wife Luella Leukam; his wife Luella "Lou" Middendorf of Sauk Centre; his children, Barb Massmann (Mark) of Long Prairie, Ron Middendorf (Cindy) of Melrose, Paul Middendorf (Bonnie) of Long Prairie, Kurt Middendorf (Amy) of Long Prairie, Keith Middendorf (Jennifer) of Sauk Centre, Jeff Middendorf (Tina) of Sauk Centre and Lisa Goerdt (Steve) of Melrose; his daughter-in-law Denise Middendorf of Long Prairie; his siblings, LeRoy Middendorf (Adeline) of Sauk Centre, Victor Middendorf (Florence) of Melrose, Margaret Klasen of Sauk Centre, Betty Thieschafer of Melrose and Gerald Middendorf (Diane) of Sauk Centre; and his sisters-in-law, Marilyn Middendorf and JoAnn Middendorf. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
