He was predeceased by: his grandson Tanner Barlau; his siblings, Elmer, Dan, Vern, Gordon and Monica Klemz; and his siblings-in-law, Armelia Schmidt, Bernice Schmidt and Lou Klemz.
He is survived by: his wife Lorraine Schmidt of Sauk Centre; his children, Joyce Pettit (Tom) of Sauk Centre, Joan Hommerding (Jerome) of St. Cloud and Jane Barlau (Steve Klug) of Albany; his grandchildren, Mitch Pettit (Talayia Skillings), Jessica Pettit, Amanda Schloegl (Jesse), Jenny Coenen (Joe), Rylie Hommerding and Brandon Barlau (Katrina); his great grandchildren, Connar, Dominic, Rhys, Sondra, Kaylie, Jaxson, Eyan, Sam, Zach, Jayden, Landyn, Tanner and Tate; and his sisters-in-law, Pauline Schmidt of Alexandria and Delores Schmidt of Elrosa.
