He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred, Sr. Messer and Helen Messer (Santer); and his brother Jerome Messer. He is survived by: his wife Jane Riermann; his children, Joe Messer (April) of Sauk Centre, Ruth Merten (Terry) of Sauk Centre, Jerry Messer (Katy) of Sauk Centre and Kevin Messer of Sauk Centre; his grandchildren, Jamie, Justin, Cory Messer, Kristopher Merten, Kolin, Owen, William, Jackson Messer, Kayla, Dylan and Brianna Messer; his great grandchildren, Finley, Rowen, Levi, Mack Messer, Jemma Merten, Kaylie, Paysen, Axl and Nova Messer; his siblings, Donald Messer (Bernice) of Sauk Centre, Betty Wessel (Harold "Butch") of Sauk Centre and Roger Messer (Pat) of Sauk Centre; and his close friend Dorothy Ley of Melrose.
