He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben Rueter and Eleanor Rueter (Hoeschen); and his siblings, Julius, Benedict, Julianna and Rita.
He is survived by: his wife Joan Kerfeld; his children, David (Michele), Daniel (Sheri) of Sartell, Gary (Jdee) of Hackensack, Julie Primus (Alan) of Sartell, Mark (Mary), Paul and Greg (Teresa) of Sartell; his grandchildren, Jason, Brad, Nate, Haley, Zach, Rachel, Matt, Alison, Jacob, Bethany, Jeff, Abby and Clare; and his siblings, Joseph, Bernadette and Rosemary. He is also survived by 19 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorials are preferred to the Country Manor Foundation, the Sisters of the Poor Clares, Sauk Rapids or Crosier Seminary, Onamia.
