He was predeceased by: his parents, Emory Pries and Eleanor Pries (Kannberg); his sister Carol; his daughter-in-law Michelle Pries (Mic); and his nephew Scott Pries.

He is survived by: his wife Sharon Wicks; his children, Kristine Maiers (Randy), Bud Pries (Teresa Louks), Tammie Unverzagt (Chris) and Wendy Landherr (Brian); his grandchildren, Raquel Kirsch (Jake), Ally Maiers (Michael Adams), Travis Pries (Annie), Tyler Pries, James Landherr, Jared Landherr and Alex Unverzagt; his great grandchildren, Brynlee Kruse and Addison Pries; his brother Dave Pries; and also, Matthew Louks, Laura Brady (Steven), Maggie and Ruth.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to charity of choice.

“Pat and I (Jim) would like to offer our extreme sympathy to Sharon and the rest of the Pries family. I have known Darell since high school.. Played football and many other things with him. Sharon and I started the first grade together in Dexter. Life long friends. Sharon I can't begin to say how sorry we are for you and your family. God love you folks and Darell at this time.
