He was predeceased by: his parents, Emil Trnka and Agnes Trnka (Sweda); and his parents-in-law, Wallace and Irma Bierman. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Bierman; his daughters, Emily Fischer and Laura; his son-in-law Karl; his granddaughter Sophie; his sisters, Mary and Charlene; and his siblings-in-law, Lowell, Pat Bierman, David, Joan Bierman, Gaylen and Karen Bierman. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
After a long battle with Alzheimer's, he suffered a fall and a hip fracture at home.
