He is survived by: his wife Donna; his children, Benton Walter (Ellen), Tony Walter, Barbara Holdeman (James) and Rebecca Crane; his stepchildren, Bret Smith, Bart Smith (Patricia), Patrice Drayfahl (Clint) and Douglas Smith (Beth); and his siblings, Barbara Langmo and Richard Walter (Margaret). He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
