He is survived by: his wife Pamela Ballis; his sons, Herb Ballis and Robert J. Ballis; and his stepchildren, Nicole Hinkle, Jessica Mapel and Russell Helfritz. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the American Cancer Society.
