He was predeceased by: his stepfather Michael McFarland; and his grandparents, Henry, Jeannette Courtney, William and Gertrude Scanlan.

He is survived by: his parents, Patricia Courtney and James Scanlan; his sisters, Rachel and Colleen; his close friend Jesse Lichliter (Mandy); and his pet Merlin.
