He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold McDonald and Geneva McDonald; his wife Yvonne McDonald; his granddaughter Alexis; his brothers, Patrick (Rosie) and Harold McDonald (Barbara); and his brother-in-law Paul Pitzen.

He is survived by: his children, Joe (Liz), Robert, Kelly and Michael McDonald; his grandchildren, Jonathan, Theresa, Isaiah and Tracy; his great grandchildren, Josiah, Michael, Jayden, Maddison and Jeremiah; and his sister Bonita Pitzen.
