He was predeceased by: his grandfathers, Johnny Gomez Sr. and Richard W. Heatherston Sr.; and his brother Brian Martinez. He is survived by: his parents, Paula Gomez (David Bartlett) and Richard; his grandmothers, Irene Gomez and Linda Hayne (David); his aunts and uncles, J. J. "Jerry" (Shar), Gary Gomez Sr., Larry Meyer (Sue), Debra Barr (Rusty) and Tammy Mendez (Marty); his siblings, Jonathan, Gary Gomez Jr., Arianna Peace and Anthony; his girlfriend Christina Tran; his close friends, Travis, Doug Siedschlag, Dominic Benjamin, Jordan Gregersen and Kareed Williams; his cousins, Teanna (Joe Royce), Jackylina and Jeffrey Gomez; and his nieces and nephews, Layla, Maya, Niya, Anya, Zaya, Mila, Ayva, Jace, Gionni and Desmond. He is also survived by children, he knew his mother wanted grandbabies.

When the pandemic happened Joshua decided to give to others, he never took charity from anyone.

“I visited Josh in the hospital w/ my mum. He was so fun to visit, always a smile and scratch for me. We are thinking of him and you at this time. He left the most amazing impression on us. I’d look forward to seeing him on our visits, we laughed each time when my mum said next time we’d see him on the streets, not in the hospital. It’ll be hard to visit his room again. On our last visit, Valentine’s Day & just before his birthday. I wore scarf w/ many hearts, Josh said that was his good luck charm for a new heart.”
