He was predeceased by: his parents, John Suel and Gert Suel; and his brother Mark Suel. He is survived by: his siblings, Bill Suel, Charlie Suel, Mary Pat Suel, Kelly Bishop (Dan) and Maura Kipp. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

“I was able to speak with Jim by phone, Friday, April 19, 2024, for about 15 min., a week before he died. We remembered first meeting at Saint John's University where I was a monk and reference librarian, late 1970s. We often met again when Jim came to campus in Collegeville. Sadly, mobility issues will keep me away from Shakopee, but I will continue to remember Jim at prayer and Mass. May he rest in peace, Bro. Richard Oliver OSB www.richoliver.us/”
