He was predeceased by: his parents, Lorenzo Puente and Josefa Puente (Duran); his children, Luis, Armando and Guadalupe; and his grandchildren, Noemi Avila, Nikki Lopshire, Napoleon Fuentes and Jose Puente.

He is survived by: his wife Guadalupe (Vega); and his children, Olga Zuniga (Ernesto), Catalina Borja, Marta Puente, Dora Alicia Puente, Dionicio Jr. Puente (Jacqueline), Eduardo Puente (Carol Hall), Lorenzo Puente (Linda), Ernesto Puente (Berta) and Jorge Puente.
