He was predeceased by: his siblings, Patricia M Kosciolek (Matthews), Mary Jo Supalo (Matthews) and John F Matthews; and his parents, Charles E Matthews Sr. and Myrtle M Matthews (McCormick).

He is survived by: his wife Barbara; and his sister Kathleen F Moran (Platzer). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
