He was predeceased by: his wife Mary; his parents, Peter Peterson and Nettie Peterson (Sather) of Brainerd; and his siblings, Gertie, Edna, Jim, Donald, Barb and Butch.

He is survived by: his children, Jon (Gretchen), Paul (Tawnja), Tim and Rebecca (Jay Morsching); and his grandchildren, Cherise, Brian, Cole, Mary Laurel of Cody, BJ and Jessica.
