He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Phillipp and Lydia Phillipp (Neutgens); his daughter-in-law Joy Phillipp; his siblings, Kenneth, Melvin and Betty Eich; and his brother-in-law Harry Salzer.
He is survived by: his wife Kathy Niewind; his children, Shelley McAlpine of Maple Lake, Paul (Jill) of St. Joseph, Chad of St. Joseph and Brad (Jamie) of St. Joseph; his siblings, Harold (Rita) of Prior Lake, Lee Salzer of St. Cloud and Carol Shaw (John) of Foley; and his sisters-in-law, Darlene Phillipp of Watkins and Pat Phillipp of Conway, Arkansas. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren.
