He was predeceased by: his parents, George Sandmeyer and Elvina Sandmeyer (Chalin); his wife Alice Marie Riggle; his son Steven "Freighter"; his son-in-law Willard Reed; and his siblings, Chuck, Jim, Keith, Richard, Ruth, Shirley and George.

He is survived by: his daughters, Barb Reed of Madelia and Cathy Newville (Jim) of Butte, MT; and his brother Clayton "Pete" Sandmeyer (Darlene) of Mankato. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
