He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Burnis Swanson and Lydia Swanson (Nessler); his wife Audrey of St. James; his children, Leigh Swanson (Jodi) of St. James, Nancee Reese Swanson of Boonville, MO and Andy Swanson (Amy) of Ormsby; his grandchildren, Averie (Jeff Barrett), Tayler (Bailey Swanson), John (Jady Reese), Lunden and Isabelle (Drew Swanson); his great grandchildren, Knoxyn, Lola, Slade Barrett of St. James, Kolbi Jo and Kroy Swanson of St. James; his sister Judy Engelking (Ernie) of St. James; his parents-in-law, Ezurina and Lorenz Meier; and his friend Stanley Noren.
