He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Nelson and Ovedia Nelson; his grandson Joshua Nelson; his sister Ramona Broste (Burton); his niece Cheryl Broste; his brother Noren Nelson (Diane); and his in-laws, Elwood Wright, Don Carlson, Mel, Audrey Roiger, Dennis, Helen Hanson, Howard Hanson and Harlan Hanson.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Nelson of St. James; his sons, Bill Nelson (Shari) of St James and Barry Nelson (Chastity) of St James; and his sisters, Janice Sorgatz of Mankato and Angela Sack (Al) of Waseca. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
