He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Dempsey and Lorraine Dempsey (Hanson); his wife Linda Sanders; his sister Barbara Edd; his sister-in-law Karen Bjerke; and his great-niece Rilee Bjerke.
He is survived by: his son Shawn Dempsey of St. James; and his parents-in-law, Timothy Dempsey (Pam) of Shakopee, Mary Dempsey of Shakopee and Michael Dempsey of Prior Lake.
Due to the covid-19 situation a private family service will be held at Sturm Funeral Home in St. James on October 10, 2020.
