He was predeceased by: his parents, John Kosel and Helen Kosel (Guck); his former wife Lou; his son Joseph; his sisters, Leona Armstrong (Raphael), Mary Morris (Lyle) and Carol Jacobs; and his son-in-law Robert Scheerle.
He is survived by: his friend Marilyn Boike; his children, Deborah Scheerle of Waite Park, Gery Kosel (Gail) of Grand Ledge, MI, Nita Kosel (Ron Smith) of Duluth, Janet Huerta (Manuel) of San Diego, CA and Norma Berens (David) of St. Cloud; and his brother-in-law Jim Jacobs. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson.
