He is survived by: his wife Diane Dockendorf Opatz; his sons, Phillip Opatz of Minneapolis, MN, Russell Opatz (Margaret Osgood) and Salt; his granddaughter Margot Opatz; and his siblings, Mary Opatz Herges (John), Joe Opatz, Ann Opatz (Mic Stowell), Margaret Dittrich (Mark), Charlie Opatz (Gail), John Opatz (Laurie), Andy Opatz (Linda Scherer), Pat Opatz (Stephanie Hawkinson) and Clare Opatz-Osgood (Joe).
