He was predeceased by: his father-in-law Everett Nathe; and his sisters-in-law, Cheryl Nathe and Betty Nathe. He is survived by: his parents, Alvin Plaats and Evelyn Vander Plaats (Van Dellen); his wife Kathryn of St. Cloud; his children, Abigail Vander Plaats of St. Paul and Samuel Vander Plaats of Chanhassen; his stepchildren, Nathan Warnert (Bernadette) of Sartell, Kate Warnert (Johan Sogge) of Cold Spring and Matthew Warnert (Leah Clark) of Buffalo; and his siblings, Scott Vander Plaats of Buffalo and Amy Vander Velde (Bill) of Belmont, MI. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
