He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Hayes and Blanche Hayes (Curley); his siblings, James, Vincent, Thomas, Richard and Vernona; and his siblings-in-law, Ronald and Jolleen.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Jane Hayes (Hose); and his sister Patricia Flynn (Robert). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and several dear friends.
Memorials preferred to Holy Cross Lutheran Church and Salvation Army.
